How We Started Working Together

Myself and Sally, from Welltold, started working together back in May 2022, funnily enough we came into contact with each other through a Facebook group for Irish businesses which is called Bite the Biscuit. It’s a great resource for those who are self-employed and looking for support or to ask questions, I’d highly recommend checking it out!

Sally had posted in the group looking for a photographer to cover a workshop she was hosting for Janssen Sciences Ireland. It was fortunate that I was available as the event was only a few weeks away. Originally I was only supposed to be taking photos, but Sally had seen the videography section of my portfolio and decided to also book me for videography.

At the time, I didn’t have as much corporate event experience as I have now, so naturally I was a little apprehensive, particularly about photographing and shooting video at the same time. In the end it was a combination of nerves and excitement and it was also a great opportunity to try out a new 70-200mm lens I had recently purchased.

Sally and I did a zoom call before the event to go over some of the specifics of what she wanted. Specifically she wanted to make sure that I wouldn’t be front and centre with my camera, but in the background, which meant my new 70-200mm was perfect for the job!

First Janssen Workshop

Since Then...

Most recently, I worked with Sally again to cover another workshop she was hosting for the Janssen Ringaskiddy Leadership Team again.

Unfortunately one of the key members of the team, Fred Ward, was unable to be present at the workshop, so Sally arranged for me to visit the Ringaskiddy site to record a short interview with Fred beforehand so that it could be shown to everyone during the workshop.

Second Janssen Workshop

A week later, the event took place at the Rochestown Hotel, in the beautiful Estuary Suite function room. Since the first shoot I did with Sally, I had worked on more corporate style events so I felt like I was well prepared.
